For a long while now, LDS members (aka members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) have been offered free access to several commercial family history websites. As of today, members can access free accounts to Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast, AmericanAncestors, and Geneanet.
LDS Partner Access: Creating Your Free Accounts
If you are an LDS member and would like to create your own free accounts to these websites, you will need to go to the Partner Access page, here. Now, click on any of the websites you would like to join.
In each case, you will be directed to sign-in to FamilySearch, if you are not already. If you have not created your free LDS FamilySearch account, you will need to do so. Remember, you need your membership number to complete your LDS FamilySearch account registration. You can get that number from your temple recommend card or contact your ward clerk. [Note: If you have an LDS account user name and password to access your ward directory or calendar, that is the same user name and password you will use for the FamilySearch log-in.]
As you can see in this example below, you are given two choices. You can choose to create a new account with the partner provider or connect to your already existing account.
If you already have a paid subscription to any of these websites, you will not be getting a refund because of your new “free account” status. Instead, your account is changed to the LDS membership account and you will not need to renew your subscription as you would have done.
Further, when you connect to an already existing account, you will not lose any of your saved data. Everything should remain the same, including your user name and password for that specific website. Just to make sure you are crystal clear, let me give this example:
If you already have a paid membership to Ancestry.com, you will click on the option to “sign-in to connect your account” and then type in your user name and password that you have always used for Ancestry. You will not lose your data saved on Ancestry such as any documents saved in your Shoebox, family trees you have created, or your DNA results. The only change will be the status of your account, which will now say “LDS-Ancestry Membership.”

It is a wonderful opportunity the LDS community has to have free access to these genealogy databases. We may not always have this blessing, so I encourage you to take advantage of it now. American Ancestor is not worth setting up. There is such limited items, most just copies of others work, that is not at all useful. No NEGHR journals, no this no that. worthless
