RootsTech 2020 to be Held February 26th – 29th
Overview of RootsTech 2020
RootsTech 2020 in Salt Lake City will again be held at the Salt Lake Palace. We heard there was some construction going on at the palace, but that the RT Team is already on it and making sure everything will move smoothly.
This year marks the 10th anniversary and it is sure to be one of the more memorable events. Just take a look at the keynote speakers they have lined up so far:
David Hume Kennerly – White House photographer and Pulitzer Prize winning artist
Emmitt Smith – Former NFL player and Hall of Fame-er
Elder Gary E. and Sister Lesa Stevenson – Elder Stevenson is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife will be speaking for Family Discovery Day.
The theme for 2020 “The Story of You.”

Let’s Talk About Classes
RootsTech 2020 is offering over 300 classes. DNA, records, writing family history, methodology, preservation, tech, and so much more!
In addition to Power-hour (which was first introduced last year), this year they will be offering three forums. One of these will be held on Wednesday at 8 am and feature Susan Kaufman, Allan John Owens, Judy G. Russell, and Nicole Watier discussing access and preservation of records.
I will be presenting two lectures myself. I would love to see you. My classes are as follows:
Wednesday 11 am, “Secrets and Clues in the 1790-1840 U.S. Censuses,” held in Ballroom A
Wednesday 1:30 pm “Finding My Story: Adoption and Family History,” held in the Emerald Room
RootsTech Expo Hall
Let’s talk about the Expo Hall. It’s big, it’s grand, it’s the RootsTech Expo Hall! You can see all the vendors and even look at a map by downloading the RootsTech app. [For the app on Google Play Store, click here. For the app on Apple Store, click here.]
This year, the RT Team has made sure there will be plenty of extra hours for you to roam the booths in the Expo Hall. You can literally shop (or learn) till you drop! [I am not kidding about the dropping part…remember to wear comfy shoes!]
